Will County Clerk Conducts Lottery for Party Ballot Placement Ahead of 2026 General Election (Joliet, IL) – The Will County Clerk’s Office held an official lottery Tuesday morning to determine party ballot placement for candidates in the upcoming Nov. 3, 2026 general election.
The drawing took place at 9:00 a.m. on May 5 under the direction of Will County Clerk Annette Parker. Chief Deputy Clerk Kimberly Fladhammer administered the lottery alongside Elections Analyst Robin Tyda, ensuring the process followed Illinois election procedures and standards for transparency.
Representatives from the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office, Matt Guzman and Erika Hamer, were present to observe the proceedings and help uphold the integrity of the process.
Local party leadership also attended the event, including Will County Democratic Party Chair William Morgan and Republican Party Chair Hillary Kurzawa. Following the randomized selection, the Republican Party secured the top position and will appear first on the ballot.
Election officials emphasized that the lottery is a routine but important step in preparing for the general election, helping ensure fairness in how candidates are presented to voters.
