25th Annual Police Memorial Ceremony to Honor Fallen Peace Officers Across Cook County (Lyons, IL) – The 25th Annual Police Memorial Ceremony will take place Friday, May 8, from 11 a.m. to noon at Cermak Woods Forest Preserve in Lyons, honoring peace officers from across Cook County who died in the line of duty.
The ceremony will be held at the site of the proposed Cook County Peace Officers Memorial, located at 7601 W. Ogden Ave. Organizers say the annual event serves as a solemn tribute to officers who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving their communities.
Family members of several of the honored officers are expected to attend.
A silent police motorcade representing more than 60 law enforcement agencies will precede the ceremony, beginning from Morton College before arriving at Cermak Woods.
Among the officers being recognized this year are:
- Chicago Police Officer Krystal Rivera, End of Watch June 5, 2025
- Park Forest Police Detective Tim Jones, End of Watch Dec. 3, 2025
- Chicago Police Probationary Patrolman Benjamin Devlin, End of Watch Nov. 15, 1922
- Belt Railway Police Special Agent Edward Fay, End of Watch Nov. 22, 1921
- Belt Railway Police Special Agent Alexander Lang, End of Watch Sept. 17, 1922
- Belt Railway Police Detective Frank McCaskey, End of Watch April 2, 1918
Organizers said the memorial ceremony is open to the public and welcomes community members wishing to honor fallen officers and support their families.
