Crisis Center for South Suburbia Announces Departure of Executive Director Pam Kostecki (Tinley Park, IL) – The Crisis Center for South Suburbia announced Wednesday that Executive Director Pam Kostecki will step down after leading the organization for the past decade.
The nonprofit organization, which provides emergency shelter and support services for individuals and families impacted by domestic violence, also announced the launch of a national search for its next chief executive officer.
Kostecki said serving survivors and working alongside the organization’s staff and volunteers has been the defining experience of her career.
“Serving survivors and working with the amazing, dedicated team at the Crisis Center for South Suburbia has been the highlight of my career,” Kostecki said in a statement. “I am deeply proud of all that has been accomplished over the last decade.”
During her tenure, the Crisis Center significantly expanded its operations and services. Shelter capacity increased from 12 households and 35 beds to 20 households and 54 beds. The organization also tripled its operating budget and more than doubled its government funding, according to the nonprofit.
Kostecki also guided the organization through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic while helping rebuild volunteer participation to pre-pandemic levels.
The organization’s two Neat Repeats resale stores also experienced major growth under her leadership, expanding from 3,000 square feet to more than 8,000 square feet and generating more than $2 million in annual gross revenue.
“The Board of Directors is deeply grateful for Pam’s incredible service and dedication,” said Board President Derrick Lott. “She leaves the organization in a steady position, and we are committed to finding a visionary leader to build upon this foundation.”
The board has formed a search committee and partnered with nonprofit executive recruitment firm Kittleman & Associates to lead the national CEO search.
The Crisis Center said its current leadership team will maintain operational stability during the transition process.
