Suspect in Custody Following Homicide Near 147th Street and Perry Avenue in Harvey (Harvey, IL) – A suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the fatal shooting that took place Tuesday evening, April 28, near 147th Street and Perry Avenue, according to the Harvey Police Department.

The incident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. when the victim, identified as 17-year-old Amari M. Binion of Harvey, exited the EZ Pawn shop at 468 E. 147th Street. As Binion proceeded toward Perry Avenue, gunfire was exchanged between him and a group of individuals standing in the driveway of a nearby McDonald’s located at 226 Sibley Blvd.

Binion was struck in the midsection and fled southbound on Perry Avenue before collapsing in neighboring South Holland. He was transported to Ingalls Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:38 p.m.

On Wednesday, April 29th, Harvey police located and apprehended a suspect in South Holland without further incident. The suspect’s identity has not yet been released, and charges are pending.

Multiple crime scenes were processed by Harvey detectives and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigations unit.
