Former Presidents to Attend Public Homegoing for Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. in Chicago (Chicago, IL) – Former Presidents Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and Joseph Biden, along with former First Lady Dr. Jill Biden and former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, will travel to Chicago this week to honor Civil Rights leader and minister Reverend Jesse L. Jackson, Sr.

The public homegoing services are scheduled for Friday, March 6, at the House of Hope on Chicago’s far Southside, led by Dr. Charles Jenkins and Rev. James T. Meeks. The final Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 7, at the Rainbow PUSH Coalition headquarters.

The events will draw an array of national leaders, local officials, and cultural figures. Speakers include Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, Congresswoman Maxine Waters, Chicago Cubs owner Tom Ricketts, businessman Jim Reynolds, and Rabbi Sharon Brous.

Musical tributes are a highlight of the ceremonies. Friday’s service will feature performances by EGOT winner Jennifer Hudson and gospel legends Bebe and Marvin Winans. On Saturday, Grammy-winning gospel artists Marvin Sapp and Hezekiah Walker, R&B singer Terisa Griffin, and a special musical tribute by Stevie Wonder will celebrate Reverend Jackson’s life and legacy.

The public is invited to attend, with doors opening at 9 a.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday, while media check-in begins at 8 a.m. each day. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early, and only small personal items such as clutches or fanny packs are permitted; lighters, weapons, signage, and other disruptive items are prohibited.
