Cook County Clerk Unveils Real-Time Election Analytics Platform, a First in the Nation (Cook County, IL) – The Cook County Clerk’s Office has launched what officials describe as the nation’s first real-time election analytics platform, a new tool aimed at improving election transparency, efficiency, and the overall voter experience across suburban Cook County.

Clerk Monica Gordon announced the rollout of the platform, known as Election Lens, following its debut during the March 17 gubernatorial primary election. The system was developed in partnership with election technology company KNOWiNK.

According to the Clerk’s Office, Election Lens provides live data on voter turnout, mail-in ballot activity, and polling place operations, allowing election administrators to monitor and respond to issues as they happen.

“This new technology will now enable our office to see what’s happening across our election system in real time,” Gordon said in a statement. “It allows us to respond quickly, operate more efficiently, and provide voters with the transparency they deserve.”

The platform builds on Cook County’s existing use of KNOWiNK’s Poll Pad electronic poll books, which have been used for voter check-in since 2021. By leveraging that infrastructure, Election Lens converts incoming data into real-time insights for election officials.

Among its key features is a voter turnout dashboard that tracks participation by location and time, giving officials a clearer picture of voting patterns throughout Election Day. A separate dashboard integrates U.S. Postal Service scan data to monitor the movement of more than 100,000 mail ballots, helping identify potential delays and ensure ballots are accounted for while in transit.

The system also includes a polling place readiness dashboard, which provides a live overview of operations at voting sites. Officials say this allows teams to quickly identify technical or logistical problems and resolve them before they disrupt voting.

Election officials say the platform’s real-time capabilities could help streamline election operations, improve communication with the public, and increase confidence in the voting process.

The rollout comes as election agencies nationwide continue exploring new technologies to modernize systems and enhance transparency, particularly in the handling of mail-in ballots and Election Day operations.
