Illinois Labor Department Reaches Agreement with Allied Universal Over Wage Claims (Springfield, IL) – The Illinois Department of Labor (IDOL) has reached an agreement with Allied Universal Security Services to resolve multiple wage-related complaints and strengthen compliance with state labor laws.

The agreement, known as an Assurance of Voluntary Compliance, follows an IDOL investigation into the company’s wage payment practices after the department received numerous complaints. Officials said the resolution avoids litigation while putting enforceable measures in place to prevent future issues.

As part of the settlement, 25 wage claims totaling about $20,000 will be paid to affected workers. Allied Universal will also pay a $37,000 penalty to the state’s Wage Theft Enforcement Fund.

IDOL Director Jane R. Flanagan said the agreement underscores the agency’s commitment to protecting workers.

“Ensuring that workers are paid what they are owed is a core responsibility of this Department,” Flanagan said. “This agreement holds the employer accountable, provides relief to affected workers, and puts safeguards in place to prevent future violations.”

The company cooperated throughout the investigation by providing payroll records, responding to information requests and participating in discussions to address compliance concerns, according to the department.

Under the terms of the agreement, Allied Universal must adhere to enhanced oversight measures for two years. These include maintaining an internal hotline for wage-related concerns, ensuring required workplace notices are posted, and submitting regular reports to IDOL بشأن wage and hour complaints.

State officials noted that the agreement does not constitute an admission of wrongdoing or a formal finding of legal violations. However, failure to comply with its terms could result in further enforcement action.

Workers who believe they have not been properly paid can file a complaint with the Illinois Department of Labor.
