Mexican Patriotic Club Hosts 86th Annual Mexican Independence Day Parade (Chicago, IL) – The Mexican Patriotic Club (MPC) brought thousands together on Sunday for the 86th Annual Mexican Independence Day Parade, celebrating culture, history, and community in the city’s oldest Mexican neighborhood.

This year’s parade was supported by DoorDash, which contributed $1,500 to the event and to MPC’s scholarship fund. The program awards a four-year, $1,500-per-year scholarship to an outstanding high school senior.

“The Mexican Patriotic Parade is the oldest parade in Chicago, held in the city’s oldest Mexican neighborhood and organized by the oldest Mexican organization in the Midwest,” said Carmela Vargas, president of the Mexican Patriotic Club. “While we’re all Americans, it’s important that we honor and remember those who came before us, this year more than ever. We are grateful to DoorDash for supporting our community’s celebration as well as our students’ futures.”

Founded in 1939, the Mexican Patriotic Club created the parade to honor Mexican independence and the contributions of immigrant families who built lasting roots in Chicago. The organization continues to uphold that tradition through cultural programming and scholarships for local students.

DoorDash leaders said the company’s involvement reflects its commitment to Chicago’s diverse communities.

“We are proud to partner with the Mexican Patriotic Club as they commemorate this year’s Mexican Independence Day,” said Clark Kaericher, DoorDash’s head of state government relations. “DoorDash is committed to supporting community-driven events that spotlight the incredible cultures of Chicago as well as the futures of local students.”

Beyond the parade, DoorDash has backed numerous Chicago-area organizations, including the Greater Englewood Chamber of Commerce, Fox Valley United Way, and Heartland Alliance’s NEON program, among others.

The parade remains one of Chicago’s longest-standing cultural traditions, blending celebration with community investment and ensuring that the legacy of generations of Mexican immigrants continues to thrive.
