Dolton United Movement in Full Effect: Mayor Jason House Delivers on Packed Weekend of Community Engagement (Dolton, IL) — Mayor Jason House continues to make good on his campaign promise to “Clean House” and build a unified, community-first government in the Village of Dolton. This past weekend, the newly sworn-in mayor led a jam-packed series of events that reflected his commitment to inclusion, collaboration, and revitalization.

As part of his Dolton United Movement, Mayor House emphasized working hand-in-hand with all municipal partners, including the Dolton Park District and Dolton Public Library, to create meaningful, visible impact across the village.

A Clean Start — Literally:

The weekend kicked off with a major community clean-up event in partnership with NHS (Neighborhood Housing Services). Nearly 100 residents, alongside the Dolton Fire Department, Police Department, and Public Works, rolled up their sleeves to restore the long-neglected and historically significant Dolton Fountain, abandoned for over eight years.

Thanks to sponsorship from State Farm, the event brought out leaders from across the region including:

  • Calumet City Mayor and State Representative Thaddeus Jones
  • State Representative Will Davis
  • Cook County Commissioner Donna Miller
  • Park District President Cleo Jones
  • State Senators Willie Preston and Napoleon Harris

This powerful show of unity and service marked a new era of visible progress in Dolton.

Celebrating Culture & History:

Following the cleanup, residents gathered at the Dolton Public Library for a special Juneteenth presentation hosted by Library Board President Louise Copeland and the Board of Trustees. The program honored freedom, resilience, and the Black experience, showcasing Dolton’s commitment to education, equity, and cultural celebration.

Fathers Matter Too:

Capping off the weekend, Mayor House hosted a vibrant Father’s Day Picnic, sponsored by The Father’s Day Committee. Fathers were celebrated in style with music, fun, and delicious food, courtesy of Dolton’s women residents who lovingly prepared the sides. It was a positive, family-friendly affair that brought generations together and reminded residents what community feels like.

United We Move Forward:

“This is just the beginning,” said Mayor House. “Dolton is moving in a new direction — united, energized, and focused on rebuilding our village together. I made a promise to clean house and bring people together, and this weekend was proof that when we show up for each other, progress is possible.”
