Donna Miller Condemns Killing in Minnesota, Criticizes GOP Silence (Chicago, IL) – Donna Miller, a candidate for Congress in Illinois’ 2nd Congressional District, issued a sharply worded statement condemning the killing of an American man by ICE agents in Minneapolis and criticizing Republican lawmakers for what she described as their silence on the issue.
In her statement, Miller said the killing was captured on cellphone video by witnesses who reported seeing the man beaten by multiple masked agents before he was shot several times. She compared the incident to the earlier killing of Renee Good, which authorities said occurred after Good attempted to strike an officer with her vehicle.
Miller accused government officials of blaming victims for their own deaths in such cases and warned against what she called a growing public desensitization to violence carried out by federal agents.
“How many people are we going to allow to be murdered on our American streets by masked agents before we say enough is enough?” Miller said. “This cannot continue.”
The congressional candidate also questioned the role of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Border Patrol agents, arguing their actions are not improving public safety. Instead, she said, their presence and tactics are spreading fear and intimidation.
“What we’re seeing in Minneapolis isn’t making our streets safer,” Miller said. “If anything, ICE and Border Patrol agents are deliberately trying to terrorize Minnesotans and Americans at large.”
Miller directed particular criticism at Republican lawmakers, asking why they have not spoken out more forcefully in response to the killings. She framed the issue as a broader question about the country’s values and how federal law enforcement operates within communities.
In her statement, Miller cited the final words attributed to Renee Good and contrasted them with remarks attributed to the agent who killed her, arguing that the comparison raises serious questions about accountability and the use of force.
Miller is one of several candidates seeking the open seat in Illinois’ 2nd Congressional District, where immigration enforcement and federal oversight have become increasingly prominent campaign issues.
