DuPage Sheriff Investigates Social Media Threat Against Montini Catholic High School (Woodridge, IL) – The DuPage County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a social media threat directed at students of Montini Catholic High School that was reported Sunday evening, Feb. 8, 2026.
According to authorities, the Woodridge Police Department notified the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office of a threatening message posted on the social media platform Snapchat. Detectives from the sheriff’s office responded and took over the investigation shortly after receiving the report.
Investigators were able to quickly identify the individual responsible for the post. Officials said the suspect is a juvenile who does not attend Montini Catholic High School and does not reside in the state of Illinois. Following a comprehensive investigation, detectives determined the threat was not credible.
Despite that finding, school officials and law enforcement took precautionary steps. Montini Catholic High School was placed on e-learning prior to the identification of the juvenile, according to the sheriff’s office.
“The DuPage County Sheriff’s Office and Montini Catholic High School take all threats to public safety and student safety very seriously,” Undersheriff Eddie Moore said in a statement. “As a precautionary measure, the school was placed on e-learning before the identification of the juvenile responsible for the threat by the school president.”
Sheriff James Mendrick also used the incident to urge parents to discuss responsible online behavior with their children, emphasizing the importance of good judgment when using social media and participating in group chats or online discussions.
Based on the investigation to date, the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office said it is seeking juvenile-related felony charges in connection with the incident. No additional details were released.
