Jackson Family Says Rev. Jesse Jackson Is Stable, Not on Life Support (Chicago, IL) – The family of Reverend Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., moved Thursday to correct what it called inaccurate media reports about the civil rights leader’s health, emphasizing that he is stable and not on life support.
Jackson, 84, is being treated at Northwestern Memorial Hospital as he manages progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), a neurological disorder he was diagnosed with in April. Despite reports suggesting a more dire condition, family members said he is breathing on his own and remains under the care of physicians.
“In fact, today he called for 2,000 churches to prepare 2,000 baskets of food to prevent malnutrition during the holiday season,” his son, Yusef Jackson, said in a statement.
The family expressed gratitude to Jackson’s medical team and thanked supporters for their prayers and messages as he continues his treatment.
