Joyce Secures $90 Million for 40th District Infrastructure Projects (Kankakee, IL) – State Senator Patrick Joyce announced that more than $90 million will be directed toward infrastructure improvements in the 40th District next year, funding projects that will span from Wilmington to Park Forest.
“From Wilmington to Park Forest, these local projects will improve road safety and bring good-paying jobs to the district,” said Joyce (D-Essex). “We made a bipartisan commitment to improve our state’s aging infrastructure and now, over the years, we are seeing that vision come to life.”
The funding comes through the Illinois Department of Transportation’s (IDOT) latest Multi-Year Plan, part of the state’s $50.6 billion Rebuild Illinois capital program. The initiative, the largest infrastructure investment in state history, will unfold over six years and target roads, bridges, aviation, transit, freight and passenger rail, waterways, and bicycle and pedestrian paths in every Illinois county.
Joyce emphasized that the improvements will not only enhance safety and mobility but also create economic opportunities across the South Suburbs and greater Kankakee area.
“The positive effects of this historic investment will be felt here in the 40th District for many years to come,” Joyce said.
A full breakdown of local projects is available on IDOT’s website.
