UChicago Medicine Ingalls to Offer Free Mental Health Screenings in October (Chicago, IL) – In recognition of National Depression and Health Screening Month, University of Chicago Medicine Ingalls will host free mental health screenings throughout October at several south suburban locations. The screenings are open to anyone 12 years and older and aim to increase awareness of depression and anxiety while reducing stigma around seeking help.
No appointment is needed for the screenings, which will be held at the following times and locations:
Thursday, Oct. 9, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at UChicago Medicine at Ingalls – Flossmoor, 19550 Governors Hwy.
Thursday, Oct. 16, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at UChicago Medicine at Ingalls – Tinley Park, 6701 W. 159th St.
Tuesday, Oct. 21, 10:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. at UChicago Medicine at Ingalls – Calumet City, 1600 Torrence Ave.
Participants will complete a short questionnaire designed to identify signs of depression or anxiety. A licensed clinician will be available to review results, answer questions, and connect individuals with additional resources. Those needing further support can schedule a comprehensive no-cost mental health assessment.
For people unable to attend, Ingalls offers free, confidential assessments by phone at 708-915-8600. Trained professionals are also available 24/7 for referrals at 708-915-6411, with same-day, walk-in, and virtual appointments available.
The screenings are part of UChicago Medicine’s ongoing efforts to expand access to mental health care on Chicago’s South Side and in the south suburbs. Last year, Ingalls Memorial Hospital added 15 inpatient behavioral health beds, reducing wait times and helping patients stay within the UChicago Medicine network.
