Will County Adds New Vote-by-Mail Drop Box, Updates Locations for Primary (Joliet, IL) – Will County voters will have 10 secure drop boxes available to return their vote-by-mail ballots for the March 2026 primary election, including a new location at the New Lenox Village Hall, according to Will County Clerk Annette Parker.
Parker announced this week that the county has added a newly acquired ballot drop box at Village Hall, 1 Veterans Parkway in New Lenox, bringing the total number of drop boxes across the county to 10.
One location will be temporarily moved because of construction. The drop box normally located at the Joliet Library Black Road Branch will be relocated for the primary election to the Silver Cross Professional Building at 1051 Essington Road in Joliet. The move will apply only to the primary election.
Most drop boxes will be available beginning Monday, Feb. 9, 2026, and will remain open until noon on Monday, March 16, the day before Election Day. The drop box at the Will County Office Building, 302 N. Chicago St. in downtown Joliet, will open earlier — on Thursday, Feb. 5 — and remain available until 7 p.m. on Election Day, March 17. That location will be under camera surveillance and will allow drive-up access.
Vote-by-mail ballots will begin going out Feb. 5. The last day to apply for a vote-by-mail ballot is March 12. Applications can be submitted online at willcountyclerk.gov.

Parker said the goal is to make voting as accessible and secure as possible.
“Secure ballot drop box locations give voters a safe, convenient, and reliable way to return their vote-by-mail ballots,” Parker said in a statement. “My goal is to ensure every voter knows where and how they can participate in our elections with confidence. These secure drop boxes provide voters with flexibility while maintaining the integrity of the election process.”
She said drop boxes will be emptied daily by trained election workers, and ballots will be transported immediately to the Will County Clerk’s Office. Voters are reminded to carefully follow the instructions included in their vote-by-mail packets before returning their ballots.
