Jessica Biggs Raises More Than $108,000 in Campaign for Chicago School Board President (Chicago, IL) – Chicago Public Schools Board Member Jessica Biggs raised more than $108,000 during the second quarter of 2026 as she campaigns to become president of the Chicago Board of Education, according to campaign finance reports filed this week.

The campaign reported more than $120,000 in cash on hand, providing financial support for Biggs’ citywide bid ahead of the upcoming election.

“This strong fundraising quarter shows the energy around our campaign to bring leadership to CPS that will prioritize the needs of our kids and families over politics,” Biggs said in a statement. “We’re working every day to make sure we have the resources to get our message out. It’s time to make sure every kid in this city has access to a great public school—no matter what neighborhood they live in.”

Biggs currently represents the 6th Chicago Public Schools Board District, having been elected in November 2024 with nearly 45% of the vote in a three-way race. The district includes the South Loop, Bronzeville, Hyde Park, Washington Park, Woodlawn and Park Manor neighborhoods.

Her campaign has received endorsements from several elected officials and education leaders, including former CPS CEO Dr. Janice Jackson; Ald. Pat Dowell, Ald. Lamont Robinson and Ald. Timmy Knudsen; Cook County Commissioner Bill Lowry; State Rep. Nick Smith; 1st Ward Democratic Committeewoman Laura Yepez; 43rd Ward Democratic Committeewoman Lucy Moog and the 43rd Ward Democrats; and fellow CPS Board Members Carlos Rivas Jr., Therese Boyle and Dr. Che “Rhymefest” Smith.

Outside of her elected role, Biggs serves as director of Healthy Southwest at the Southwest Organizing Project (SWOP), where she leads community partnerships focused on improving health and social services on Chicago’s Southwest Side. She has also worked as a public school special education teacher in Oakland, California, and previously served as principal of Canter Middle School in Hyde Park and Edmund Burke Elementary School in Washington Park.

Biggs earned a master’s degree in school leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. She and her husband, Earl Grandberry, are parents of Chicago Public Schools students and live in Bronzeville.
