Biss Reports $600,000 Fundraising Haul in Congressional Bid (Evanston, IL) – Daniel Biss announced Monday that his campaign for Illinois’ 9th Congressional District raised more than $600,000 in the third quarter of 2025, finishing the period with over $1 million cash on hand.

“Since the beginning of this race, the support we’ve received has been overwhelming,” Biss said in a statement. “Folks all across this district have made it clear that they want someone they can trust to not only take on Donald Trump, but also who has a proven track record of actually winning tough fights.”

Biss, who launched his campaign in May after Rep. Jan Schakowsky announced she would not seek reelection, has quickly consolidated support from prominent Democrats. His endorsements include U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), Reps. Sean Casten (IL-06) and Bill Foster (IL-11), as well as several labor unions such as the Iron Workers District Council of Chicago, Bricklayers ADC 1, Local 881 UFCW, and IAFF Local 742.

The district, which includes much of Chicago’s North Side and northern suburbs, has long been a Democratic stronghold. Schakowsky, a progressive leader in Congress for more than two decades, announced earlier this year that she would step aside at the end of her term, opening up a rare competitive Democratic primary.

With more than $1 million already in the bank, Biss enters the final stretch of the primary campaign as one of the best-funded contenders in the race.
