Free Property Tax Assistance Event Set for Niles Township Homeowners (Chicago, IL) – Cook County homeowners in Niles Township will have an opportunity to receive free, in-person help with their property tax questions later this month at an event hosted by Cook County Board of Review District 2 Commissioner Samantha Steele.
The property tax assistance event is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 15, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Skokie Public Library, East Lobby/Petty Auditorium, 5215 Oakton St. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., allowing attendees to meet one-on-one with Board of Review analysts for personalized guidance.
At 6 p.m., Board of Review staff will present an overview of Cook County’s property assessment system and explain how the appeals process works. Individual assistance will continue throughout the event, giving homeowners the chance to ask questions specific to their properties. Attendees are encouraged to bring their Property Index Number, or PIN, which can be found on their property tax bill.
Although the official appeal window for Niles Township has not yet opened, homeowners can take advantage of the county’s pre-file option to submit appeals early. Steele said the event is designed to help residents better understand their rights and the steps involved in appealing an assessment.
Homeowners in Niles Township can also pre-file appeals online through the Cook County Board of Review’s website. Registration for the event is encouraged.
