Truman College Men’s Soccer Extends Region 4 Reign, Sweeps Top Honors (Chicago, IL) – Harry S Truman College capped another historic season with its men’s soccer team securing a third consecutive NJCAA Region 4 championship, cementing the Falcons as one of the most dominant community-college programs in the nation.

The title, earned in 2023, 2024 and again in 2025, places Truman in rare company in the NJCAA, where sustained success is notoriously difficult for two-year colleges.

“What our Men’s Soccer team has accomplished is nothing short of extraordinary,” Truman College President Shawn Jackson said. “But what makes this achievement truly special is the character of our students and their coach. They are resolute scholars, leaders on our campus, and outstanding athletes who represent the very best of what Truman stands for.”

The Falcons’ standout year also came with a sweep of major Region 4 awards. Head Coach Maciej Orlowski earned his third straight NJCAA Region 4 Division I Coach of the Year honor on Dec. 1, reflecting what school officials describe as a culture of stability, strategic recruiting and consistent player development.

Sophomore forward Michael Makonese was named Region 4 Player of the Year, also announced Dec. 1, after a season that placed him at the center of the Falcons’ offensive success.

Four Falcons earned spots on the NJCAA Region 4 All-Region Team:

• Michael Makonese
• Eduardo Ferragut
• Nils Stodulka
• Oliver Bewell

Makonese and Stodulka were also named NJCAA Division I All-American nominees on Dec. 4.

The Falcons’ season began Aug. 23 and ended in the District Quarterfinals on Nov. 7 in Iowa, following another strong postseason run.

Coach Orlowski credited the program’s success to its culture and work ethic.

“This year’s group found success because they trusted each other, worked for each other, and showed up every day with the right attitude,” he said. “Our players bring pride and identity, and they understand the responsibility of being true student-athletes. Talent sets the table, but hard work serves the meal.”

Few programs maintain Truman’s level of success across multiple years. While most community-college soccer teams experience cycles of rebuilding, the Falcons have advanced deep into the postseason year after year and consistently produced top-tier talent.

Truman’s run of championships, postseason appearances and award-winning athletes places the school at the forefront of NJCAA Division I soccer in Region 4 and beyond. School officials say the continued success is positioning the Falcons as a benchmark program within two-year collegiate athletics.

Harry S Truman College, part of the City Colleges of Chicago, offers academic programs, continuing education, adult education and growing athletic opportunities. The men’s soccer program, leaders said, exemplifies the college’s commitment to excellence both on and off the field.
